Kristi and Charlie are such great compliments to each other, and make an amazing husband and wife pair.  Their wedding was nothing short of legendary, with every guest, young and old, engaged on the dance floor until the very last song was called.  The Houston Club was so elegantly dressed for the evening that the coordinator couldn’t remember the last time it looked so good.  I met a really great wedding party, and had a fun time being a part of this wedding.  Thank you for including me.  I hope you enjoy a quick look, from my perspective, at Kristi and Charlie’s wedding.

I had so much fun shooting this bridal session at the Houston Club on a ridiculously cold, but awesome day. Thank you Kristi!

Jonathan and I had the pleasure of working on a project for Victory Records to Direct/Produce/Film a music video for the band, Close Your Eyes.  The original project had 2 possible songs, and the label decided on “Keep The Lights On” (my personal favorite from their new album).  It was such a struggle to contain my excitement to be working on this project, and especially difficult not to share my progress with you guys as the album still had not been released, and we had a preview of the master recordings.   I spoke with Shane Raymond, Close Your Eyes lead singer, briefly after the video shoot, and as he told me stories about the thought process and place where he was when he wrote this particular song, it was as though I was speaking to the man behind the Wizard of Oz, and was hearing all of his passion and dedication to the art and to his lyrical purpose.   I think he is an amazing guy, and the band was nothing but stellar during the shoot.  Brett’s family came down and I was able to meet them – such a great support system, and so encouraging.

Before my exposure to the band, I had no idea that Christianity had such a great outlet for music in this style, and I definitely did not realize how powerful the lyrics could be when screamed at the top of one’s lungs.  I really enjoy the story that is being told in the song about a sinner who is pulling his way out of the things that he despises about himself and how he’s lived his life; and that in order to keep fighting he is asking God to keep the path lit so that he may one day find his way back home.

Jon heard the song first and immediately had a concept for the shoot. Jon conceptualized a dark and very industrial hallway to symbolize the path that the sinner would be walking through. We wanted the lighting to gradually change through the hallway until finally he would be immersed in darkness. The band’s performance was set in an unsavory location for continuity of the concept that powerful messages may be (and should be) spoken(or screamed) even in darkness. My favorite part of the entire video happens near the end. We are very thankful to both Close Your Eyes and Victory Records for calling on us for this project. I’ll let you watch it now…

Lorinda is from Toowoomba (australia).  Joel is from Houston, Texas.  Distance could not separate these two from meeting and falling immediately in love.  They are very dear friends, and I love the way they love each other.  It really was a great experience for me to be able to shoot this engagement session for them.  We strolled through downtown Houston, and found our own special places between the rustic brick towers of older downtown.  Im pretty sure this one image sums it up for how hot this got.

ArkFilms really enjoyed meeting Gavin, Godfrey, Gerard, and Stephen from the band, Saints of Valory.  We completed a photoshoot for the band at the Jet Lounge in Houston, TX.   The members have such a fun personality and they are amazing live.  I actually watch one of their self-made videos on YouTube quite regularly where they sing under the sea and then end pretty hilariously.  Awesome sense of humor.  Best wishes to you guys, and we look forward to future projects.

Ark Films has been a dream of mine for a while, but it did not come to fruition until I met Jonathan Calvert who has pushed me to go after that dream.  We film professional musicians, and we are loving every moment of it!

Creating a drum promo for Isaias Gil was our latest project, and I am so impressed by his talent, and his personality.  I’ve met very few people who are as cool or who make such a good first impression as Isaias. Here is Isaias’s website.  He has tracked songs for many big artists including Macy Gray, and won this January’s Guitar Center World Drum Off Competition.

We were also very fortunate to have Michael McGee working with us on set. He is the best Audio Engineer that has ever migrated from Nashville to Houston. We are fortunate to have had his ear and his technical ability on board for the day. I also can’t wait to see what great things he produces while he is in Texas.
